The popular shops of Shrewsbury Plaza offer the Two River community, diverse exercise options, healthy restaurants and everyday shopping needs in one convenient location.
The shopping center, located at the corner of Broad Street and Shrewsbury Avenue, is home to an array of national, regional and local tenants including HomeGoods, Saks OFF 5th, Marshall’s, ShopRite and much more. It is owned by National Realty & Development Corp. (NRDC), which strives to cater to the community’s needs by filling vacancies with healthy eating options, popular fitness studios, everyday services and medical uses for convenient cross shopping.
According to Nick Hrvatin, vice president of retail leasing, “the shops in the center are well trafficked, especially the traditional retail stores. They report exceptional sales well above others in the market. There could be a vacancy in the future, however; A.C. Moore, a chain arts and crafts shop, is scaling back its stores on a national level.
Shrewsbury Plaza was originally constructed in 1972 and in 2017, NRDC completed façade renovations to give the center a fresh, contemporary look. Wood shingle rooves were replaced along with various improvements to the parking lot, which is comprised of over 1,400 parking spaces. The former Shrewsbury Business Center, also owned by NRDC, was demolished behind the center to make room for the new 80,000-square-foot ShopRite of Shrewsbury.
Thanks to the renovation work, customers can drive from Shrewsbury Plaza to ShopRite without having to exit the parking lot and turn onto the main road. “It just seemed like the right way to construct it, making it most convenient for the customer,” said Hrvatin.
According to NRDC, the company was founded over 50 years ago. It has built a reputation as one of the leading privately-held commercial real estate ownership and development firms in the country, according to its website. NRDC is headquartered in Purchase, New York and is committed to creating and maintaining a portfolio of functional and efficient retail and office/industrial properties.
